Candidates for Breast Augmentation
Candidates seeking breast augmentation surgery should have a thorough familiarity with the process and the variables that affect it. Maintaining a positive outlook and setting realistic expectations is essential.
The patient must be in excellent health, with no preexisting conditions in the areas of the heart, lungs, or nervous system. Candidates for breast augmentation surgery include those who desire fuller / larger breasts and are committed to taking care of themselves properly for a few weeks after surgery.

Breast implants are available in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, textures, and materials. The breast implant selection process is a collaborative one between you and your Surgery Advisors’ network aesthetic surgeon. You and your surgeon will review your goals and objectives, present and prior health, body size / shape, age, and other aspects prior to the surgeon making a recommendation.
You should be aware of several of the various options as you and your aesthetic surgeon determine what would be best for you.
Size, shape, implant contents, and implant surface finish are several variable to consider.
Round Implant Shapes and Implant Profile
Round breast implants are the most popular implant shape. After implantation of round implants, the breast profile will be more round with the upper portion of the breast appearing to be fuller. Round implants may be a good choice if you want to repair drooping while also achieving a fuller appearance.
The profile of a breast implant is a three-dimensional representation of its projection (and volume) in relation to its base diameter. It is important to understand the projection component of the profile as you select your implants. In simplest terms, projection is the linear measurement of how far the breast implant extends out from its base. In general, a breast implant will project off the chest farther the smaller the implant base width. More on Implant Profile:
Low Profile Implant:
This implant has the greatest base diameter and the least amount of projection. From the side, it seems to be flat, yet it can give the breasts a more natural shape and some cleavage. Women who have a large bust or a large amount of space between their breasts benefit most from low-profile implants.
Moderate Implant Profile:
This implant provides greater projection than low profile implants, despite an almost indiscernible difference in base diameter. Because of its superiority in making breasts appear fuller and more natural, this implant profile has become the industry standard. Women who are more on the average size and have fuller breasts generally prefer this option.
Moderate High Profile Implant:
This implant’s base diameter is smaller than a moderate implant and is a good choice for women who desire greater breast projection yet have an average rib cage size and wide breasts.
High Profile Implant
In contrast to low and medium profile implants, this implant provides a significant projection. Because of the smaller diameter of the base, the top portion of the breast seems fuller. Smaller women with a narrow chest who want very large breasts might prefer this type of implant.
Very High Profile
This implant has a very small base diameter resulting in significant projection and breast fullness.
Keep in mind that the implant’s projection is not directly related to its profile. The diameter of the implant’s base is proportional to its actual projection. That noted, it is important to know that implant sizes define projection and profile.
Lastly, it’s more common for round implants to be less expensive than teardrop ones.
