Bariatric Revision
There are occasions when bariatric surgery does not produce the results the patient was hoping for. The patient might not have achieved the weight loss goals they had, regained weight, has unresolved health issues or has medical or surgical complications. After taking the time to make certain the patient is following a healthy diet and lifestyle, we often find that the previous bariatric procedure is outdated and no longer done with frequency. Gastric / Lap Band surgery is a good example of this.
The type of revision surgery needed will be determined by the previous surgery. There are a variety of these revision procedures and Surgery Advisors performs most of them.
Bariatric Revision is performed to help you lose excess weight and reduce your risk of weight related health issues. Those included but are not limited to:
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Heart disease
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Type 2 diabetes
- Stroke
- Obstructive sleep apnea
- Cancer
- Infertility
It is important for you to know that making permanent changes to your diet and lifestyle will be needed to maximize your weight loss. With smart food choices, regular exercise and good eating habits, patients who have had a bariatric revision should enjoy and maintain good weight loss.
